Method of strength analysis for doubly-curved stiffened orthotropic shells by various strength theories

چکیده

The paper proposes a method of strength analysis for materials thin-walled shell structures reinforced with stiffeners. shells under consideration were made orthotropic materials. authors analyze the applicability following seven criteria: maximum stress criterion, Mises-Hill Fisher Goldenblatt-Kopnov Liu-Huang-Stout Tsai-Wu and Hoffman criterion. During study, doubly-curved shallow square in plan considered. A geometrically nonlinear mathematical model deformation, which considers transverse shears, was used. calculations based on characteristics T10/UPE22-27 glass-fiber-reinforced plastic. relies calculating values several criteria at each step structural loading analyzing development areas failing to meet conditions as load increases.

On Bending Response of Doubly Curved Laminated Composite Shells Using Hybrid Refined Models

This paper presents a static analysis of laminated composite doubly-curved shells using refined kinematic models with polynomial and non-polynomial functions recently introduced in the literature. To be specific, Maclaurin, trigonometric, exponential and zig-zag functions are employed. The employed refined models are based on the equivalent single layer theories. A simply supported shell is sub...

Corner Strength of Investment Casting Shells

During the investment casting process, the shell is subjected to high internal pressure and thermal stress, particularly during pattern removal and when pouring steel into the free standing ceramic shell. Most testing methods investigate the properties of the ceramic shell in flat regions while cracks typically form in the sharp corners and edge regions. The corners and edge regions have differ...

Comparison of Various Shell Theories for Vibrating Functionally Graded Cylindrical Shells

The classical shell theory, first-order shear deformation theory, and third-order shear deformation theory are employed to study the natural frequencies of functionally graded cylindrical shells. The governing equations of motion describing the vibration behavior of functionally graded cylindrical shells are derived by Hamilton’s principle. Resulting equations are solved using the Navier-type s...

The Strength of Truth-theories

Tarski’s classic paper “The Concept of Truth in Formalized Languages” is nicely representative of the state of logic in the 1930s: It is as much about what one cannot do as it is about what one can do. On the negative (or ‘limitative’) side, we have Tarski’s celebrated theorem on the indefinability of truth. On the positive (or ‘constructive’) side, we have Tarski’s demonstration that, for a la...

Buckling strength of uniaxially compressed orthogonally stiffened plates

The bucking strength calculation includes the determination of global buckling strength, the effective plate width and the torsional buckling strength of open section stiffeners. In each calculation the classic strength formula should be modified considering the effect of initial imperfections and residual welding stresses. The calculation method of Det Norske Veritas design rules and the Euroc...
